The Non-Golfer’s Guide to Starting Golf at Gaudet Luce
19/03/2026World Environment Day: Caring for Our Course and Environment
At Gaudet Luce, we're incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes every day. As custodians of over 300 acres of countryside, we understand the responsibility that comes with protecting and enhancing the environment for future generations.
This World Environment Day, we're taking the opportunity to highlight some of the initiatives and investments we've made to support sustainability, wildlife, and the long-term health of our course.

Supporting Local Wildlife
Nature is at the heart of everything we do. Over the years, we've planted more than 15,000 trees across the site, helping to create habitats for wildlife, improve biodiversity, and enhance the natural beauty of the course.
Alongside this, we've continued to plant new hedgerows and establish designated wildflower areas each year. These spaces provide essential food and shelter for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife that call Gaudet Luce home.
One of our most exciting environmental partnerships can be found just behind the 18th hole on the Phoenix Course, where our very own beehives are located. Managed by Hopstones Honey, the hives support local bee populations while producing delicious honey that visitors can purchase from our bar
Sustainable Course Maintenance
Maintaining our courses to a high standard doesn't mean compromising on sustainability.
Our greenkeeping team uses an environmentally friendly wash-down area for machinery, featuring a recyclable water system that helps reduce water consumption. We also use organic fertilisers across the course, ensuring we care for our turf while minimising our environmental impact.
Even our ponds play a role in our sustainability efforts. Rainwater collected from our buildings is filtered and used to help maintain water levels, making the most of natural resources already available on-site.
We've also invested in electric greenkeeping equipment, including an all-electric greens mower and bunker bike, helping to reduce emissions and lower our reliance on fossil fuels.

Investing in Renewable Energy
One of our biggest environmental investments to date has been a £120,000 solar energy project. With 150 solar panels now installed across two areas of the site, we're generating more of our own renewable electricity and reducing our overall carbon footprint.
This investment has also allowed us to transition our kitchen from gas to fully electric, further reducing emissions across our operations.
To complement our solar energy system, we've installed Voltage Optimisation technology, which helps reduce electricity consumption and improve energy efficiency throughout the site. Working alongside our solar panels, this technology ensures we're making the most of every unit of energy we use.

Reducing Waste and Supporting Greener Travel
Across the resort, we continue to improve our recycling and waste management processes through dedicated cardboard recycling and general waste segregation.
We've also installed electric vehicle charging points, making it easier for members, guests, and visitors to choose more sustainable transport options when travelling to Gaudet Luce.
Looking Ahead
Environmental responsibility isn't a one-off project. It's an ongoing commitment to making better choices, investing in sustainable solutions, and protecting the natural environment that makes Gaudet Luce such a special place.
While we're proud of the progress we've made, we're always looking for new ways to improve and ensure that our courses, facilities, and surrounding landscape can be enjoyed for generations to come.
This World Environment Day, we'd like to thank our team, partners, members, and visitors for supporting us on that journey.
